6-9 months

Prep:

Ripe and soft. Mash, spread on a toast strip, or load onto a pre-loaded spoon.

Large halves or thick spears with skin and pit removed. Roll spears in hemp seeds or shredded coconut for grip.

9-12 months

Prep:

Continue with halves or thick spears, or move to small bite-sized pieces as the pincer grasp develops.

Cut:

Bite-sized pieces, or thick spears if smaller pieces are still tricky.

12-18 months

Prep:

Bite-sized pieces, mashed, or skin-on halves so the toddler can practice scooping with a spoon.

Cut:

Small bite-sized pieces or thin slices. Skin-on halves work for self-scooping practice.
