Usually introduced around 6 months
Use mango ripe enough to mash easily between thumb and finger. Roll a slippery pit in grated coconut or infant cereal for grip.
Whole peeled pit with most flesh removed, or long spears. Hand the spear in the air for baby to grab.
Same ripeness rule. You can also mince ripe mango and spoon it onto scoopable foods like yogurt or porridge.
Pit or spears still work. Once the pincer grasp shows up, offer bite-sized pieces or pre-load on a fork.
Keep mango ripe and soft. Hold off on dried mango until age 2 because of choking risk.
Diced ripe mango as finger food. Pre-spear pieces on a fork to introduce utensil use.
Most babies can try Mango from around 6 months, once they show signs of readiness. Check the prep and cut-size notes above before you start.
