Usually introduced around 6 months
Cook the zucchini until soft all the way through. Raw or undercooked pieces are firm and slippery, which is a choking risk at this age.
Spears or sticks roughly the size of two adult fingers pressed together. Skin can stay on to help the piece hold together. Shredded works too.
Still cooked until soft. If you make zucchini noodles, soften them well. Raw zucchini stays a choking concern at this stage.
Bite-sized cooked pieces for pincer-grasp practice. You can keep offering spears alongside so they keep practicing biting too.
Cooked is still easiest. When you introduce raw, slice it thin. Children with ragweed allergy may feel oral itching from raw zucchini, which is oral allergy syndrome.
Bite-sized pieces or thin slices. Mix it into casseroles, eggs, grains, fritters, or pancakes. Around 18 months you can start offering thin raw slices or sticks with a dip.
Most babies can try Zucchini from around 6 months, once they show signs of readiness. Check the prep and cut-size notes above before you start.
